"You Look Very 80s"

SCENE: The bathroom line at Policy, the new bar in the U Street corridor

GUY: You look very 80s.

ME: (Thinking that the women's line is way too slow) Oh?

GUY: Your white blazer--it's 80s, though the shoulders aren't too big. I like it.

ME: Thanks. The 80s are back, you know.

A quintessential 80s one-hit-wonder song comes on. I want to say it was "Our House" by Madness, but I could be totally wrong.

GUY: What perfect timing!

END SCENE.

Judge for yourself:

Get My Style

Elizabeth and James James IV Blazer in Off-White, $395 at eLuxury
It was expensive, but I literally wear it everywhere. It's essentially my spring coat.

Lauren Conrad Ruffle Strapless Top
For all you haters, Lauren Conrad's line is actually high-quality and comfortable jersey.

BCBG Ponte Skinny Pants in Black
These pants are currently unavailable, but are similiar to these French Connection Stretch Ponte Pants, $98 at Bloomingdale's.

Nine West Gidsa Booties in Black Suede
These shoes are currently unavailable, but are available in black patent for $85.45 at Endless.com.

Kenneth Jay Lane Giraffe Cuff Bracelet in Yellow, $59.98 at QVC

The 80s are, without a doubt, back. You can find bits and pieces of the 80s--like this blazer--for spring, but you won't be able to avoid 80s trends come fall. This news might distress you if you were a pre-teen or older in the 80s, but you need to face reality. And if you need a little help getting into the 80s mood, there are always one-hit-wonders on YouTube.
