And the Oscar goes to...
Anne Hathaway for her stunning champagne Armani Prive gown. She dressed like an Oscar-nominated actress--and is the only reason why I bothered with Oscars Red Carpet Awards.

And the worst all around...
Beyonce Knowles, of course, dressed like a tablecloth-covered Oscar. Will she ever learn that gaudy, fishtail gowns aren't flattering on her curves?

Best in Nude
Who says that fair-skinned ladies can't wear spring's It Non-Color? Evan Rachel Wood was ethereal in a beige Elie Saab gown and vampy nails.

Worst in Nude
I'm just going to come out and say it: Jessica Biel looked heavy in this beige Prada gown. Dating a fashion designer doesn't make you fashionable. (Maybe I'm jealous.)

Blushing Bride
It's nearly impossible for Penelope Cruz to look bad, but her vintage Balmain gown was especially gorgeous--even if she did look like she was heading to the chapel.

Bridezilla
I'm a vehement Sarah Jessica Parker defender. I think she's beautiful in her own way, incredibly stylish, and a fantastic businesswoman. And, judging by the photos above, pale gowns were the gowns of the season. But this Dior Haute Couture gown was just too Bridezilla for a fashionista like SJP. Did she steal it from the Sex and the City: The Movie set? (I hate the organza but I must admit I like the belt.)

"Excuse Me, You Look Good, But Why Are You Here?"
Was High School Musical 3 nominated for an Oscar? No? Regardless, Vanessa Hudgens looked classy in this black Marchesa gown. She can rock a fishtail.

"No, Really, Why Are You Here?"
Oh, Heidi Klum. Without Project Runway to occupy you, you must go to the Oscars in strawberry-colored Star Trek costumes designed by Roland Mouret.

Best Two-Faced Gown
Ever since Freida Pinto wore a mustard-colored gown to the Golden Globes, she's been heralded for her red-carpet fashion sense. But at first glance, I absolutely hated her John Galliano gown with a terrible lace sleeve.

But if you ignore the sleeve, she looks lovely. The color is perfect and the cut is flattering...as long as she keeps some arm candy on her at all times.

Worst Two-Faced Gown
At first, I thought Alicia Keys was one of the Best Dressed in a lavender Armani gown. Not only was the gown beautiful, but her hair, makeup, and jewelry were spot-on, too.

But then, I noticed the slit. A slit of this size might work at the Grammys, but not at the Oscars, the classiest Hollywood event of the year. It's unfortunate, because she might have given Anne Hathaway a run for her money without it.

Great picks. Samantha, your fashion sense is impeccable, and this blog is great. Having read that Sarah Jessica Parker regretted getting married in a black gown, perhaps she is making up for it now. (I love her too, and I think, with the belt, it works.) My favorite was the Evan Rachel Wood look: so understated.
Thank you, WAmom! I agree, Evan Rachel Wood looked divine. And if anyone can get away with a wedding gown at the Oscars, it's SJP. Thanks for reading!
I love SJP's gown and hate Jessica Biel's "outfit." The chick from HSM looks great and all grown up.
I agree, Jessica Biel's dress was one of the worst. You'd think she'd want to look gorgeous for her boyfriend JT! I sure would! Thanks for your comment, keep the comments coming! :)
